For most cable railing systems, we recommend spacing posts no more than 4 to 5 feet apart. This helps minimize cable deflection (sag) and ensures your installation meets standard residential and commercial building codes, which typically require that a 4" sphere cannot pass between cables. Tighter spacing may be needed for stair runs or when using mid-rail pickets to maintain tension and visual alignment.
